Overview
Amazon Linux 2 is a supported and maintained Linux image provided by Amazon Web Services for use on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2). It is designed to provide a stable, secure, and high-performance execution environment for applications running on Amazon EC2. It also includes software packages for easy integration with Amazon Web Services, including startup configuration tools and many popular Amazon Web Services libraries and tools. Amazon Linux 2 does not charge additional software fees for Amazon EC2 users and is supported for five years. It provides Linux kernel 4.14 with performance optimization for Amazon EC2, systemd 219, GCC 7.3, Glibc 2.26, Binutils 2.29.1, and the latest software packages through additional sections.
