CentOS 8 (arm64) – with Updates HVM
Overview
This is an official CentOS 8 arm HVM image built with a minimal configuration file and only applies to the HVM instance type. The image includes a package that runs in Amazon Web Services, enables an SSH server, and allows users to log in. Note that this is the default CentOS-8 image we recommend everyone use. It already contains relevant important security updates.
Highlights
- Although all official CentOS Linux images are built with SELINUX settings enforcing. But we also ran the same tests with SELinux set to enabled.
- Currently, all CentOS AMIs support cloud-init, and the default username is “centos”. Once the instance is launched, you can log in as that user and run higher-privilege commands using sudo. You can use instance user data to override this default username when the instance is initialized.
- We recommend that you check CentOS on the http://wiki.centos.org/Cloud/AWS page for details on how to build these images, extend and add functionality to the images, and a getting started guide.
