Cloud Volumes ONTAP is the leading enterprise-grade data management software, deployed using NetApp Cloud Manager to provide secure, validated NFS, SMB, and iSCSI data management for EBS storage and support for tiering to S3 storage. As a software-only storage service for development/test, disaster recovery, and production applications, Cloud Volumes ONTAP combines enterprise-grade storage features such as data control, data deduplication, and data compression to minimize storage footprint; it can also snapshot data without consuming additional storage or impacting application performance. Cloud Volumes ONTAP can seamlessly connect cloud storage to its own data center using the leading NetApp replication protocol, or SnapMirror technology. NetApp Cloud Manager is used to deploy and manage Cloud Volumes ONTAP, and allows you to manage storage and easily control data with a single point-and-click environment. Cloud Volumes ONTAP (BYOL) provides the power of NetApp ONTAP software with flexible performance options and up to 368 TB of EBS (IO1, GP2, ST1, SC1) and S3 capacity. Important note: You must launch a Cloud Volumes ONTAP environment using NetApp Cloud Manager. You cannot launch Cloud Volumes ONTAP directly from the EC2 console, as this will prevent the Cloud Volumes ONTAP system from being deployed correctly. In summary, deploying NetApp Cloud Manager and Cloud Volumes ONTAP involves the following steps: 1. Prepare the Amazon Web Services environment. 2. Subscribe to the Cloud Volumes ONTAP product you intend to use in the Amazon Web Services China Marketplace. 3. Launch an instance of the NetApp Cloud Manager software in Amazon Web Services. 4. Access Cloud Manager by entering the instance's IP address in a web browser. 5. Complete the setup wizard. 6. Launch Cloud Volumes ONTAP instances using Cloud Manager in the Storage Systems View, or create volumes directly using Cloud Manager in the Volumes View.
