
NetApp BlueXP
Overview
NetApp BlueXP is required installation and deployment software for NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP storage software services. BlueXP has management capabilities to manage your NetApp cloud and hybrid cloud storage environments, including Cloud Volumes ONTAP, Cloud Volumes ONTAP high availability, NetApp AFF, and NetApp FAS storage systems. BlueXP simplifies the day-to-day tasks of the ONTAP software environment, including the configuration, setup, and monitoring of each active virtual and hardware storage node. It supports point-and-click installation and automatically selects and allocates cloud resources for each instance. When deploying Cloud Volumes ONTAP, BlueXP will use your Amazon Web Services credentials to select the EC2 virtual machines and EBS or S3 storage required to run the selected instance. When you deploy BlueXP, you can provide your own IAM configuration file. Important: Verify that you have purchased the appropriate Cloud Volumes ONTAP software license prior to deployment. Usage instructions
Important note: You must launch a Cloud Volumes ONTAP environment using NetApp BlueXP. You cannot launch Cloud Volumes ONTAP directly from the EC2 console, as this will prevent the Cloud Volumes ONTAP system from being deployed correctly. In summary, deploying NetApp BlueXP and Cloud Volumes ONTAP involves the following steps:
- Prepare the Amazon Web Services environment.
- Subscribe to the Cloud Volumes ONTAP product you intend to use in the Amazon Web Services China Marketplace.
- Launch an instance of the NetApp BlueXP software in Amazon Web Services.
- Access BlueXP by entering the instance's IP address in a web browser.
- Complete the setup wizard.
- Launch a Cloud Volumes ONTAP instance using BlueXP in the Storage System View, or create a volume directly using BlueXP in the Volume View.
