This is an official CentOS 7.4.1708 x86_64 image built with a minimal configuration file, and is for HVM instance types only. The image contains only enough software packages to run in Amazon Web Services, enable an SSH server, and allow users to log in. It includes packages updated at certain points in time to include important security updates. The image already includes the Linux kernel driver for the elastic network adapter (ENA), see https://github.com/amzn/amzn-drivers for details.
